What type of questions are on the TEAS test?

The TEAS 7 contains two large categories of questions: multiple-choice items, with four answer options and only one correct answer, and alternate items.

Alternate item types are also divided into four types:

  • Multiple Select Items: questions with four or more possible answers.

These questions will ask you to select all answers that apply, meaning that more than one may be correct.

To get credit on these questions, you will need to select all correct answers. You will not receive partial credit if your answer is incomplete.

  • Supply Answer: questions without answer options.

For these questions, you have to provide the full answer. It could be either text, meaning a sentence or paragraph, or just numerical values. These questions also could include ‘fill in the blank’ type answers.

For these, you will have the context, but you need to provide the part of the sentence that represents the answer.

  • Hot Spot Items: questions that will ask you to select an area of an image.

You will be given an image, with areas that will be marked as ‘clickable’, usually highlighted by a box. To answer the question, you will need to select those areas that represent the answer to the question.

  • Order Response Items: questions that ask you to place the answer options in the correct order.

You will be given two tables: one will contain the possible answers, and the other will be empty. To solve the question, you need to drag the answers from the right into the table on the left in the correct order.

Keep in mind, you will only receive points for an answer if it is completely correct. There is no partial credit.
