What do I need to know before I register for the ATI TEAS test?

The first thing you should know before you register for the TEAS is how long the test results are valid. This changes from school to school. Usually, institutions allow between one to two years before they consider the scores expired. Some schools will count down from the day you took your TEAS, others from the day you submitted your results for admission. Check to see how your institution handles this before you register.

  • The way you would prefer to take the test. You have the option of taking it remotely or in person at an institution or testing center. Check the application policy of the institution you will be applying to. Some schools will not accept TEAS results if the test was not taken at their institution.

  • Be aware of the score you will need to be accepted to the program you are applying to.

  • You should also check the application window of your institution. Make sure that you have enough time to receive and submit your results. Make sure to also check how your institution handles retakes, as many schools require you to wait 30 days between attempts.

  • Be informed about how many attempts your institution allows per year. Usually, schools allow 3 attempts per 12 months.

  • Check how your institution handles accommodations for students. Most likely, you will need to submit a request form to the school. Some schools require you to send the form about 30 days before your test day.

Lastly, to take the test, you will need to bring a physical copy of your government-issued ID on test day. This is true for remote and in-person exams. You will not be allowed to take the test if you have a digital copy or photo of your ID or if the name on your ID is not the exact same as the name on your registration form.

There is no set timeframe to register for the TEAS. However, consider registering as early as possible. After you register, ATI may send you study guides, other important materials, and information about the test. After you officially register, you can also take some free practice tests provided by ATI. Registering early will help you stay organized and be prepared for test day.

How do I get my TEAS Assessment ID?

The way you receive your TEAS Assessment ID depends on how you choose to take your test.

  • If you take the test remotely through an institution, you can expect to receive the ID from the school about 48 hours before the test.

  • If you take the test in person at an institution/ testing center, you will receive your ID from the proctor before the start of the test

  • If you take the TEAS at ATI, you will receive your ID via email after you register.

Note: If you take the test at ATI, in person, or online, you will only need the ID if your exam card did not load into your student account. To find your exam card, access the 'TEST' tab available in your account.

I registered for the wrong TEAS test. How do I change this?

If you register for the wrong TEAS, there is, unfortunately, nothing that you can do. Once you pay the registration fees, the test day is final. ATI does not allow you to reschedule the test day for this reason. You will also not receive a refund for your purchase.
