How is the ATI TEAS test scored?
The TEAS test is scored on a scale of 0% to 100%, and it measures skills in four areas: Mathematics, Reading, Science, and English and Language Usage.
Details about TEAS scoring:
The ATI TEAS is scored by three categories: Total score, Content Area score, and Sub-Content Area score.
The total score is the score you receive on your entire test. However, this DOES NOT tell you how many questions you got right. The total score cannot be calculated using any of the information on the score report.
The total score is equated, which means some questions have more value than others. Here’s a short explanation of how this works:
-
If you get 5/10 questions right, you would expect your overall score to be 50%. However, because some of those 10 questions had more value, i.e. were worth more points, you might receive an overall score of 40%.
-
Your total score reflects how many points you accumulated, NOT how many questions you got right.
The Content Area score is the score you receive on each section of the test. This functions the same as the total score, meaning that it won’t tell you how many questions you got right, but how many points you accumulated.
Sub-Content area scores are the scores you will receive on the sub-sections of each area.
These are different from the Total Score and Content Area Score since they reflect your performance in each subsection by how many of the questions you answered correctly.
Keep in mind that the score you received is meant to reflect your academic readiness for nursing school. Each school sets its minimum score requirements, so make sure you understand the policies of the school you are applying to.
